Mexican auto exports fell 6.4% in January to 223.5 thousand units

- Mexican auto exports fell 6.4% from the previous year to record 223.5 thousand units in January 2021, ending a three-month series of growth, as the renewal of the closure to limit the spread of Covid 19 "Corona" affected global demand, according to National Institute of Statistics and Geography.
Among the main exporters, shipments from GM decreased by -8.7% to 49.6K, FCA Mexico to -6.6% to 33.0K, Volkswagen (-16.3% to 26.1K) and Ford Motor (-52.7% to 8.8K). Audi (-16.2% to 6.3K), Mazda (-12.4% to 9.1K), and Mercedes-Benz (-38.8% to 6.5K).
It is noteworthy that the lowest level of Mexican auto exports was in September 1989, when it recorded 9.45 thousand units, while the highest increase was reached in March 2019 and reached 323,631 units, which is nearly twice and half times what it is now.
